Jesus: The reason Creek Road exists.
We're so glad you've
come to this part of our site, because finding
Jesus is the most important thing anyone can do.
In fact, Creek Road exists because we have found
and come to know Jesus and his work for us.
Jesus is
the Bible's central character.
The Old Testament points towards him. The
New Testament is about him. And the 'good news'
of Jesus Christ (what Christians call 'the Gospel'),
is that he died in our place to take the penalty
we deserved:
'We
all like sheep have gone astray
But the
lord has laid on him, the iniquity of us all.'
(Isaiah 53: 6 NIV)
Jesus rose from the dead as
God's appointed Judge.
Jesus calls us not just
to believe in him but to repent, to turn from
rebellion and follow him. In fact, true belief in
Jesus will result in an ongoing process of repentance.
God calls all people now to repent, for he has set
a day when Jesus will judge our rebellion:
'Now
he commands all people everywhere to repent. For
he has set a day when he will judge the world with
justice by the man he has appointed. He has given
proof of this by raising him from the dead.' (Acts
17:30-31 NIV)
Jesus will judge us based on
how we now treat him.
The Bible is clear that
not everyone will accept Jesus as savior, or
his authority to judge. Some will reject him outright;
others will try to appease him by doing good or
by honoring him as a 'good man', or even as 'one
of the gods' - but either response rejects what
Jesus taught himself.
What we must do is turn
from our rebellion, believe in him and submit to
him as King. Jesus is fully God and fully man; he
died in our place to forgive us so that we could
be right with God. Only he has the authority to
forgive. He said:
"I am the way the truth and the life, no one
comes to the Father except through me." (John
14:6 NIV)
Creek Road exists because we
have found Jesus.
In coming to Jesus
as our king and savior, we have come to know
God the Father and the comfort and joy of the Holy
Spirit. So we plead with you, consider how you have
been treating Jesus. If you live a life rejecting
him, we would encourage you to think again. For
the judgment date has been set, and Jesus is the
judge who will judge each one of us, based on our
response to him. The bible warns:
'
whoever does not believe
stands condemned already for he has not believed
in the name of God's one and only Son
Whoever
believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever
rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath
remains on him.' (John 3:17, 36 NIV)
If you have been challenged
in this, we would encourage you to not delay but
right now make the following prayer your own:
"Dear
God,
I admit I have rebelled. I have not honored Jesus
as I should. Thank you that he died for me that
I may be forgiven. Please forgive me, and please
change me that I may live with Jesus as king from
this day on. And please help me find a spiritual
home where I can meet with others who believe. In
the name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen"'

just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue
